FIRE FIGHTING CODES AND STANDARDS
In the world of growth and development ,
people along with comforts have merged their foot in field of safety.
whenever we
invent a system it has a drawbacks and may be having some hazardous problems
but still we use it for the sake of faster
process .
As the faster process may sometimes create
a big hazards with others people surrounding us .
Similarly when a building is been
constructed it has variety of service which have capability to create hazard to
the environment , so to ensure the safety of the human resources and building services
we need to owe towards the term called Fire Fighting .
Well before shuffling towards the
info graphics of whole system it is necessary to understand the fire fighting
codes and standards
CODES AND STANDARDS
Well before moving ahead with the installation
of the system it is necessary to make a note of it whether the selected system
will ensure pure safety ..
While designing a fire fighting system we
need to have a reference from the respected or known body which assure the tag
of safety to the projects.
Otherwise the system which assure the safety
to all services in the building and human resource will not be able to cope up with
given words.
So to ensure proper management and
certification to the design and installation there have been some codes and
standards put forward.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CODES
AND STANDARDS?
Well standards are the selection
categories for a system to be selected meeting some rules put forwarded by the
authority…
Standards are
the key element which ensure the safety of the system in design as well as
installation if conducted as per the body conducts and rules.
Codes are
the body which ensures the approval of the fire fighting design and installation
by configuring with the standards selected while designing the projects.
Codes are
the approval body of higher authority or local authority of the state ,cities
or countries which ensures the whether the project follows the standard guidelines
STANDARDS
NFPA-NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION
IFC-INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODES
IBC-INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODES
Well this are the standard which are
accepted internationally …
AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICATION (AHJ)
AHJ is the organization, office or
individual responsible for approving layout drawing, equipment and installation.
AHJ is the building or fire official of
the city or country.
Well it is a code means a authority which
monitors whether the projects follow the guidelines of standards or not
depending on it , it is approved.
So in short it is a approval authority to
a project as per the region.
IBC-INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODES
IBC is the foundation of the complete
family of international codes . it is an essential tools to preserve public
health and safety that provides safeguard from hazards associated with the build
environment.
It address design and installation of the
innovative material that meet or exceed public health and safety goals
Well in India FSAI Fire and security
association of India monitors standards of NFPA.
NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION
The National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) is an international nonprofit organisation devoted to
eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical
and related hazards. In 2018, the NFPA claims to have 50,000
members and 9,000 volunteers working with the organisation through its 250
technical committees.
NFPA 13D, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler
Systems
in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Home
in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Home
NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and
Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems
NFPA 1221, Standard for the Installation,
Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems
NFPA 1600, Standard

NFPA 2001, Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing
Systems
LISTING AND APPROVAL STANDARDS
